Birthmarks
Birthmarks are skin marks present at or appearing shortly after birth, categorized as pigmented (due to excess pigment cells) or vascular (due to abnormal blood vessels). Treatment options vary depending on the type and location, including medication (like oral propranolol for hemangiomas or topical timolol for eyelid hemangiomas) and laser therapy for red or pigmented marks. While many birthmarks are harmless and fade over time, some, such as port-wine stains or large/visible birthmarks, may require treatment to prevent health problems or address cosmetic concerns, necessitating a consultation with a dermatologist for proper diagnosis and care.
