Allergic/ Irritant Contact Dermatitis

Allergic/ Irritant Contact Dermatitis

Contact Dermatitis is a skin reaction to irritants (irritant contact dermatitis) or allergens (allergic contact dermatitis), causing symptoms like an itchy, burning rash, redness, and sometimes swelling or blisters. Treatment involves avoiding the offending substance, applying cool compresses, and using topical corticosteroids to reduce inflammation. For allergic reactions, identifying and strictly avoiding the allergen is key, while irritant dermatitis can be managed by minimizing exposure to damaging agents and using moisturizers to restore the skin barrier.
