Actinic Keratosis

Actinic Keratosis

Actinic Keratosis (AK) is a rough, scaly skin patch caused by long-term sun exposure, appearing on sun-exposed areas like the face, scalp, neck, and hands. It is a precancerous lesion that can develop into squamous cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer. Treatments vary based on the number and location of AKs but include cryotherapy (freezing), topical creams, photodynamic therapy (PDT), chemical peels, scraping (curettage), and laser therapy.
